Is there such a thing as a Day or Week's fishing license available in France, as there is in Britain? There are some nice lakes in the area of Brittany I'm heading for in April, and would like to do a bit while there.

you can buy them for 1day, 15 days or a year, the tabac in the town/village should have all the details or the tourist office. good luck,, tony

Does the licence cover you for all lakes and rivers , where fishing is allowed, in the area or just specific places. Hi We bought a 15 day carte de vacance a few years ago which covered every river and lake in the Charente. There are a few restrictions where parts of rivers are privately owned etc. but, apart from that, we were free to fish anywhere in the department. A quick google (other search engines are available) brought up this site which you might find useful. When you buy one ,you will get a booklet on everywhere in the region you can fish .

make sure which licence you buy they have one licence for carp, tench etc, and another licence for trout, salmon, prices are significantly more expensive for the latter. tony
