Since November (or was it December) we have been the keepers of a Numeo aerial. Having established that we could not pick up a signal, I contacted Numeo by phone and followed my phonecall with recorded delivery letter. The aerial has spent months sitting in it's box in our entrance hall, awaiting a Bon de Retour.

I have since chased Numeo up with another phone call, and yet another recorded delivery letter, which they finally replied to last week.

A couple of hours ago, we got a phone call, asking if they could call to see if they can make a connection to the mast! So, on Monday morning, someone is coming (at no cost to us, they say) to make another attempt at a faster connection!

Watch this space, but don't hold your breath...I'm not

We are still waiting for Numeo to refund a couple of hundred euros which they stole from our account in December.

Their engineer established, in August last, that we could not get a WIMAX signal from their nearest transmission mast.

Then in December, Numeo deducted from our bank account (*), the cost of five months connection charges and the cost of their aerial. Only after contacting them for details did we receive an invoice.

After many heated emails, in mid January they confirmed that they had received back our aerial (which we had never had!) and would refund the monies in the immediate future. Five weeks and one recorded letter to the M.D of Numeo later, and we are still waiting!

(*) We had to sign a direct debit form for their service, before they would send the kit, but the agreement stated that such charges would be made only after successful installation.

Ahhh! Nanny...this may be the problem Laughing Laughing Laughing you're interfering with the Wimax wavelength by emitting "bad juju" waves...try the power of positive thinking. Visualize you and Marc sitting in front of the computer....marvelling at how fast and easy your Wimax connection is working while you sip a glass of your favorite ....(fill in the blank)...and you are downloading movies, streaming music, Facebooking as fast as your mouse can click...and you are enveloped in a white light....Ohmmmmmm.....think of all the quizzes that you'll be able to participate in .... Laughing Laughing Laughing

Hah! Numeo! What a shower.

Our saga continues - we sent it all back, within a day or so of delivery, told them the contract was null and void, and that we'd complied with their terms (returning within 7 days). Lots of to-ing and fro-ing of registered letters. They deducted the first months payment, we cancelled the direct debit with the bank and demanded our money back. They tried to sell us their Tooway satellite system, we said b*g*er off. Weeks later they rang, apologised and said they'd credit us with what they took initially. More weeks went by, eventually we got the money back. Now we've received a letter telling us that if we don't pay, they'll disconnect us. They can't seem to accept that we never had the service, don't want the service, and don't want the hassle, either.

Are there two Numeos, who aren't aware of each other's existence, I wonder?

Nanny P, I wish you luck, I suspect that even if you do manage to get it going, it won't end there, and the other Numeo will get you in the end...

Chris

Very Happy Well, I have been keeping a close eye on the bank account, and they haven't taken any money.

Will wait and see how Monday goes.

Sorry to hear that... Was the 'engineer' able to say where the transmitter base station was actually located near to you? So you have some idea of the distance and possible obsticles in the way?

Regards
Steve

No surprise here either.

Despite sending a recorded letter to Numeo managing director last week, we are still waiting for the reimbursement of the money they stole from our bank account two months ago.

What a shower!

The 2 guys have come down to the Vienne from Alsace.
There are 15 customers in Vienne they are hoping to connect.

I think they are technicians.

They tried many angles, and heights, finally picking up a signal from the mast to the South East of us, rather than the nearer mast 9k away to the North West. The signal was not brilliant and would have required a 3 metre pole attached to the chimney. Too high to be stable, and all for maybe 1Mg.

So, they've gone, he has signed us off, so we should now receive (after 3 months of waiting) a Bon De Retour.

I am going to spend the afternoon exploring satellite options now, as we have some money put aside to pay for the installation costs.

I'm sorry to hear that Nanny. As the chief said in Little Big Man, "Sometime the magic work...sometime it don't". Smile

I posted a link to the Satellite system on your other post. Take a look at the Nordnet offer that doesn't require you to pay for the equipment with a 2-year contract (it's quite new).

We have today received the refund from Numeo!

Not only that, but they refunded €29.90 more than they took in the first place. Obviously, their totally shambolic admin miscalculated by one, the number of months connection charges they had debited to our bank account. Smile

But, on the other hand, in January, just after we received broadband, we cancelled our dial up contract with the ISP (Free telecom), by registered mail - which was confirmed - and we note that have continued to debit our bank account for monthly connection charges. What is it with French ISPs?

Oh to be in England!

Don't be fooled into thinking that's the end of it. We had yet another letter yesterday from Numeo, demanding 44 Euros, or they will suspend our service! Don't have the gear, don't have the service. We already received a refund, but this is the second of these letters we've had since Christmas.
