|
|
Hi all,
My intention is to collect old computers, rebuild them if possible and raffle the good ones off with proceeds going to the "Help for heroes" charity.
I am the registered H4H coordinator for this part of France and in the past managed to collect upwards of €2500 for the charity however as most of us are on limited budgets and always the same people that donate I feel that it is about time that we found some other way of raising funds.
If you have an old machine that is just sitting there unused and unwanted or are upgrading to a newer model please do not just throw it away. If there is something on the machine that you want to keep or details that are personal, let me know and these can be transferred elsewhere or deleted beyond recovery.
If you can help, please get in touch either through this forum or Email me at "john.hill@h4hcounty.org.uk" and arrangements can be made to either collect or deliver.
Many thanks to all those who have already donated to the charity in the past and to those that are considering it remember that together we can make a difference.
Kindest regards

I have a 9 year old PC - custom built by
http://www.sbcfrance.com/
with a complete set of CDs and instructions from the motherboard up to
Windows Millienum, plus a few extras.
Now I'm using an Acer L100 duo with Vista since Feb 2007 and have transferred all my old files from the old PC onto my external hard drive a WD "My Book" 500 giga.
I'd be willing to give the whole old setup away to a good cause if anyone could collect it from Carcassonne or not too far!

It's a charity set up to help those British soldiers injured at war. So far the public have raised around £32million and I think private companies have donated around £20million. Here is the website:

Do you know of any contacts around the 47 area? I have a few bits and pieces but you are too far away for me to deliver.
What about software? (all legal of course)?

Hello John - I sent you a message via Email rather than PM but in case your addres has changed :
I have two older PCs : One an Advent running Windows ME - 19.1 BG of storage - 256 MB SDRAM. It has both a CD and a DVD writer but I believe the drivers need reinstalling. It was my daily workhorse till today and I am just finishing copying photos etc. It has a legal copy of Excell and Word from about 2003. It has a small Proview flat screen 3/4 ratio monuitor.
I less sure of the quality of the second a Compaq which I picked up second hand about four years ago. I also have an HP deskjet and a 1315 printer scanner.
I believe you are based in Civray ? We live in Guitres which is on the Northern edge of the Gironde. If you are interrested I can deliver them to you and pickup anything from the Western Dordogne

| hi all...what a great idea and for such a worthy cause....perhaps if i collected all the unused/defunct pc's, laptops and periferals over a period of time from others and then delivered them to you in bulk....better idea?
